This presentation provides an overview of the Air Quality Model Evaluation International Initiative (AQMEII). It contains a synopsis of the three phases of AQMEII, including objectives, logistics, and timelines. It also provides a number of examples of analyses conducted through AQMEII with a particular focus on past and planned future analyses of deposition. A specific focus will be on the ozone deposition model results and monitoring data received and so far never analysed. The overall objective is to quantify primarily and operationally differences in ozone deposition modelling. The analysis and the presentation will also have the scope to identify issues to be addressed in a possible future model evaluation activity (AQMEII4) of regional scale models that would focus specifically on deposition. The impact of deposition on the over all model error will also be presented as determined in a more detailed evaluation of two models in Phase 3.
